The Netherlands’ most famous rock guitarist, Adrian Vandenberg, joined the legendary English rock band Whitesnake in 1987. He played the iconic guitar solo on the worldwide hit Here I Go Again ‘87, a song that remains a symbol of rock music’s golden era. Two years later, the album Slip of the Tongue was released, with Vandenberg co-writing almost all the tracks with David Coverdale. However, due to a wrist injury, none other than Steve Vai recorded the guitar parts. In 1997, Vandenberg returned as a songwriter for Whitesnake’s ninth album, Restless Heart, once again collaborating with Coverdale.

Now, in honor of the 35th anniversary of the Slip of the Tongue Tour, Adrian Vandenberg looks back on his legendary years with Whitesnake.
My Whitesnake Years: Rocking in 013 Tilburg
The My Whitesnake Years setlist kicks off with a blazing performance of Bad Boys, originally written by David Coverdale and John Sykes. The sold-out 013 Tilburg venue is instantly transported back to the glam rock glory days of the ‘80s. Alongside Adrian (guitar, vocals), tonight’s lineup features an impressive selection of musicians:
🎤 Mats Leven (vocals, known from Yngwie Malmsteen)
🥁 Joey de Boer (drums, Vandenberg)
🎸 Sem Christoffel (bass, Moonkings)
🎹 Len van der Laak (keyboards, Navarone, Kovacs)
From the very first note, the energy explodes off the stage. The first song that gets the audience singing in full force is, of course, Fool for Your Loving, originally from the Saints & Sinners album (1980), but best known for its 1989 version on Slip of the Tongue.
Adrian Vandenberg in Top Form
Right from the start, Vandenberg showcases his phenomenal guitar skills. One of the absolute highlights of the night is the heavy-hitting Judgement Day, a true powerhouse performance. Mats Leven’s raw and powerful vocals dominate the stage, while drummer Joey de Boer gives it his all, working up a sweat, and bassist Sem Christoffel lays down a thundering bassline.
Naturally, Whitesnake classics like Crying in the Rain and Here I Go Again are part of the setlist. When the first chords of Here I Go Again ring out, the crowd erupts, singing every word at the top of their lungs.
For the encore, Adrian treats the audience to a beautiful acoustic version of Sailing Ships, followed by electrifying renditions of Now You’re Gone and the epic Still of the Night from Whitesnake’s 1987 album.
At 71 years old, Adrian Vandenberg proves tonight that he still belongs among rock’s elite guitarists. A true legend, and thankfully, he’s far from done rocking! 🤘🔥
