“For his new album “The Art of Letting Go” is Myles Kennedy and company coming to 013 at Tilburg. Do you want to go?” was the question and my reply: “Who is coming?”
But after some research, I decided to go and no regrets afterwards at all.
By Peter van den Enden
Myles Kennedy, the charismatic lead singer of Alter Bridge and Slash’s Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, entered the main stage stage of 013 in Tilburg on Nov. 20, 2024 at 9 p.m. for an intimate but impressive show. Great was my surprise that in addition to Myles, only a drummer and a bassist took the stage. A power trio!
Kennedy’s iconic voice sounded solid in the well-filled hall as of his first song and proved why he is considered to be one of the best rock vocalists of his generation.
The set list, which was composed of only songs from his solo albums, was perfectly complemented by personal stories. Kennedy’s ability to combine his intense rock and blues influences with his authentic personality on stage gave the evening an intimate atmosphere.
Myles Kennedy brings quality
The interaction with the audience was genuine and humorous, such as the story about getting older, then the glasses were put on to give a beautiful acoustic performance of the song “Love can only heal.” His bandmates, drummer Zia Uddin and bassist Tim Tournier who supported Myles’ solo efforts, added strength to the performance. Zia Uddin in particular was a beast on the drums but it was still Myles himself who drew all the attention. Like the improvisation in the song “Behind the Veil.” Goosebumps on my arms!
As usual, the sound quality in 013 was excellent, showing off the refined nuances in his vocals (the good man is said to have a vocal range of 4 octaves) and his guitar playing.
After the encore “Say what you will” the band left the stage and I left the venue to drive back home with a good feeling. Top performance.
Still, I would like to mention the support act, the band Cardinal Black from Wales. A somewhat different music influence than Myles, but definitely worth listening to through the well known steaming channels!!!!
