Linkin Park proves with From Zero that they are back

Soundz Rating: 8.5/10

With From Zero, Linkin Park takes a bold new step in their impressive career. The album is not just a tribute to the past but also a courageous leap toward a future where the band reinvents itself. This is their first album since the tragic loss of Chester Bennington in 2017 and marks the debut of Emily Armstrong (Dead Sara) as the new lead singer. Her powerful, raw voice breathes fresh energy into the band without losing the essence of what has always made Linkin Park unique.

The album opens with a bang: “The Emptiness Machine” grabs you immediately with its blend of heavy riffs and introspective lyrics. Armstrong’s voice showcases a new side of the band while maintaining the signature mix of melody and aggression. From Zero cleverly combines nostalgia with innovation. Tracks like “Two Faced” echo their early nu-metal days but incorporate modern electronic elements that keep the sound fresh and contemporary.

Old and new in Linkin Park

What makes this album special is how it balances honoring the past with embracing a new future. While some fans might miss Chester’s unmistakable voice, Armstrong brings her own flair, perfectly fitting into the Linkin Park universe. Her emotional range and intensity add depth to songs like “Broken Foundations” and the gripping “Phoenix Rising.”

That said, the album is not without its flaws. A few tracks feel less inspired and tend to be somewhat repetitive, which is a shame given the strength of the rest of the album. However, these minor shortcomings do little to detract from the overall experience.

From Zero is an album that will appeal to longtime fans while giving new listeners a reason to embrace Linkin Park. It’s a daring, emotional, and powerful comeback that firmly places the band back on the map. Linkin Park proves that even after a dramatic change, they can still be relevant and innovative.

Love,
Heavy E
