Album full of energy and love
If you’ve seen Davina Michelle perform at Pinkpop, you know how much energy she puts into her shows. Her new album, Higher, which also shares the name of her tour, promises just as much power and emotion. Higher is not just a collection of powerful songs, but a personal and vulnerable story about the highs and lows of life in the spotlight. It tackles themes such as growing up, bullying, sexual harassment, and even war, but above all, it’s about love.

The title track Higher sets the tone right from the start. This song immediately showcases what Davina Michelle has to offer: an impressive mix of powerful vocals and genuine emotions. In an interview, much of which can be heard in the Soundz Podcast (S04E67), Davina shares how she can’t wait to perform all her new music live for the audience.
The contrast between her humble beginnings—performing in an attic—and selling out a full Ahoy arena is vast, but she proves that dreams can come true. Her collaboration with Armin van Buuren on Hold On is the only collab on the album, and according to Davina, it was important that this collaboration came about naturally. Together with her partner and musical director Sebastiaan, with whom she loves to musically experiment, she has created an album full of playful and surprising musical moments. This is well-reflected in the energetic track Panic Attack.
Davina Michelle – Higher
With Higher, Davina Michelle shows that she’s ready for more than just the Netherlands. Shows in Germany and Belgium are already scheduled, and it wouldn’t be surprising if other countries follow soon. Besides the hits Heartbeat, All Is Ours, and I SAID NO SIR, the album contains many more potential hits, all songs with their own story, written by Davina herself.
One of the most touching songs on the album is Grown Up Girl, in which Davina sings about growing up and the gratitude she feels for the strong foundation her parents gave her. She promises to be there for them, just as they’ve always been there for her.
With her second studio album, Davina Michelle proves that she is not just a talented singer, but also an artist capable of conveying deep emotions. Higher is an album full of powerful themes, vibrant energy, and above all, lots of love.
