Billie Eilish, the globally renowned singer known for her environmental activism, has launched a new partnership with Google Maps to help her fans travel more sustainably during her Hit Me Hard and Soft world tour. This collaboration highlights her commitment to reducing the environmental impact of both her performances and her audience, providing practical tools to achieve this goal.
Sustainable options
Starting in late September 2024, with the tour kickoff in Quebec City, fans attending her shows can easily access eco-friendly travel options and plant-based dining through Google Maps. In cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and others, Google Maps will recommend walking, biking, or public transit routes that are as fast and convenient as driving. This encourages concertgoers to choose greener travel options without sacrificing convenience.
A key feature of the collaboration is the focus on fuel-efficient driving routes. If fans choose to drive, Google Maps will mark routes with a leaf icon that helps minimize fuel consumption. This feature, introduced in 2021, has already contributed to an estimated reduction of 2.9 million tons of CO2 emissions.
Billie Eilish’s favorites
In addition to travel tips, Eilish is sharing recommendations for plant-based restaurants in various cities, including Atlanta, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. Fans can easily search for a city in the app and find her favorite sustainable dining spots.
In a statement, Billie said: “I am super excited to see you all at my shows and work together to reduce our collective footprint. Every action counts, no matter how small. Thanks to Google Maps, everyone has access to tools that help make great sustainable choices. Thank you for caring, and see you soon!”
This partnership between Billie Eilish and Google Maps demonstrates how music and technology can work together to raise awareness and help people make more sustainable choices in their everyday lives.
